The Burg Bar & Grill

Grand Central District · burgers, sandwiches

Open late. Go earlier if you want a calmer room.

The Canopy Rooftop Lounge

Beach Drive

The rooftop bar of The Birchwood, a 1924 building first known as the Lantern Lane Apartments and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Chattaway

Helen Lund opened The Chattaway in 1951 and her family, later Jillian Frers, ran it for 75 years as a burger garden with an English tea room inside. In March 2026 the property went under contract and the restaurant was expected to close for good; it shut in mid-July. Cullen Mahoney, Ferg's owner Mark Ferguson and Shrimpy's Waterfront owner John John Delladonna bought the restaurant and its 0.70 acre lot in August and reopened it on 25 September 2026. The new owners added a second outdoor bar, a canopy with fans over the patio and a full liquor license, and say the burger stays as it was.

Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.

The Dog Bar

Grand Central District

Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.

The own site books weddings, rehearsal dinners and birthdays under the tikis.

The Hangar Restaurant & Flight Lounge

The Helm Provisions & Coastal Fare

St. Pete Beach · seafood, raw bar, new american

Heidi and Michael Butler opened The Helm in 2021 at 7736 Blind Pass Road as a raw bar, restaurant and seafood market. Helene's surge wrecked it in September 2024 and it reopened on February 21, 2025. The Butlers also had a South Carolina restaurant hit by the same storm and closed it to stay here: 'We decided to stay here where our roots are.' In July 2026 they moved across the street into the former Verducci's, which never reopened after the storms, nearly doubling their space and adding a private room for 30 to 40. The old room becomes The Scullery, a kitchenware shop with cooking classes. Known for Maine lobster rolls, she-crab soup and Florida sour orange pie.

The Library

A book-lined restaurant and coffee bar on the Johns Hopkins All Children's campus. It runs from morning coffee through dinner, with brunch on weekends.

The Lure

Downtown · sushi, tapas, tiki

Tiki drinks, tapas, pool tables and more than 50 sushi rolls on the 600 block. The Oyster Bar

Grand Central District · seafood, oysters, steak

The Oyster Bar spent 24 years at 249 Central Avenue downtown, from 1999 until it closed there in 2023. Owner Josh Cameron of Craft Hospitality Group brought it back on 14 October 2025 in a new 3,200 square foot Grand Central room with 120 seats, 22 of them outside. The old signatures came with it ... buffalo shrimp, bacon parmesan-crusted grouper and raw oysters, with a dollar-oyster 'Aphrodisiac Hour' from 4 to 5pm. The site now names Daniel Walter as executive chef.

Live music some nights. Go before the band starts if you want to talk.

The Sourdough Co.

EDGE District · sourdough bakery, sandwiches

The Study Wine Bar & Bourbon Tasting Lounge

The kitchen is built around a wood-fired grill. A second Urban Stillhouse has since opened in Somerset, Kentucky, and the company calls St. Pete 'the standard against which every Urban Stillhouse is measured'. It hosts ticketed wine dinners and a Halloween party, Spirits After Dark, set for 30 October 2026.

The Violet Stone Pizzeria

MLK Street North · pizza

Dan and Brit, a husband and wife, started The Violet Stone as a food truck in 2022 and now run a pizzeria on MLK Street North. The dough is hand tossed after a long ferment and made from scratch each day. Their own line about the business is 'We have absolutely no idea what we are doing'. I Love the Burg reported in February 2025 that the shop was moving to a larger space at 2609 MLK, and a Tampa room on West Kennedy is listed as coming soon.

The Wharf Restaurant & Bar

Three Birds Tavern

4th Street North · american, pub fare

A tavern in a century-old farmhouse on 4th Street North with a summer orchard and verandas, built around what it calls the spirit of Old Florida. Happy hour is half off drafts, house wines and wells. Its site also lists a Beach Drive Walk Up Cafe at 400 Beach Dr and a Gulfport drive-thru.

Tommy's Hideaway

Gulfport · pizza, sandwiches

Larisa and Tommy Lussiano opened this wood-fired pizza and sandwich pub in 2023. They told The Gabber the 2024 hurricanes devastated them and credited staff, friends, family and the town for getting them reopened quickly. St. Pete Rising listed it among the first Gulfport rooms to resume service.

Treehouse BBQ

4th Street North · bbq

Mike Leander and Tina Vierus started Treehouse BBQ in 2021 as a mobile catering outfit after a restaurant plan stalled in the pandemic, and they toured the Carolinas, Tennessee, St. Louis, Kansas City and Texas before settling the menu. St. Pete Rising lists Texas-style brisket, Carolina-inspired pulled pork and St. Louis-style ribs. The 1,200 square foot room is mostly carry-out, first come first served until the meat sells out, and the site currently limits brisket to 2 pounds a customer. They still set up at the Kenwood Sunday Market at St. Petersburg High School.

Trip's Diner

MLK Street North · diner, breakfast, american

Trip's opened on 12 March 2012 and is named for the owners' triplets, Libby, Will and John. The owners call it a 'Not-too-Fancy neighborhood restaurant' and serve breakfast all day beside meatloaf, pasta and sandwiches. The St. Pete diner is the original; the Tampa room on North Florida Avenue came later.

Trophy Fish

Grand Central District · seafood

A 'bait shop chic' fish house whose menu changes with the catch of the day ... snapper, grouper, tuna from local waters, simply prepared. It takes no reservations and tells guests to come early because the fish can run out. Twisted Indian

Grand Central District · indian

Lokesh Vale launched Twisted Indian as a food truck in St. Petersburg in 2016 and built a following at the Saturday Morning Market. The venue describes itself as modern quick-service Indian, and says its aim is to make Indian food less intimidating.

Undertow Beach Bar

St. Pete Beach

A beach dive on a wide stretch of sand with tiki huts, palm trees, volleyball nets, pool tables and sports on TV. I Love the Burg's 2026 guide calls it one of the most scenic beach bars in America and mentions a rubber duck river.

Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.

VIP Mexican American Cuisine

Treasure Island · mexican

A walk-in-only Mexican restaurant and lounge that dates its start to 1973. Helene flooded it just before the current owners' 30th anniversary and the room had to be gutted. They sold tacos, wet burritos and margaritas from a borrowed food trailer behind the building, under what they called the 'Shitty Circumstances Menu', and regulars traded donations for the staff against free margaritas. Bay News 9 reported it reopened by September 2025. There is a second VIP in Indian Rocks Beach.

Valhalla Bakery featuring Valkyrie Doughnuts

Grand Central District · bakery, doughnuts

Celine Beltgens owns Valhalla, an Orlando-born vegan bakery, and this is its St. Petersburg shop. The own site says every dessert is egg-free and dairy-free, made with unrefined sugar and unbleached flour, and that the kitchen cannot do gluten-free or nut-free orders. Valkyrie's square doughnuts are sold from the same counter. Its sister room next door, Freya's Diner, closed on 6 August 2023.

World Vegan Cuisine

A strip-center kitchen on 34th Street North whose own site says everything is 100% plant-based and cooked fresh on site, with a menu drawn from several world cuisines. I Love the Burg's staff singled out the pho.

Zee's Barbeque

The Deuces · bbq

Zee's started as a pop-up tent and opened a counter inside the Foodie Labs culinary incubator just before Independence Day weekend 2026. It smokes brisket and pulled pork over wood, low and slow, and also sells sausage dogs and sides.
