A Mediterranean and Aegean small-plates room that calls itself 'your neighborhood spot for small plates, good times and lots of wine'. Husband-and-wife owners Shawn and Jeanna Damkoehler opened it first, then opened Juno & the Peacock a block north in 2024. I Love the Burg's staff singled out its brunch in June 2026.
Over 50 St. Pete: Beach Drive
The waterfront street that faces the parks and the marina. Sidewalk tables, museum crowds and hotel rooftops share a few blocks here. Parkshore Grill has been on it since 1996 and says it was the first big restaurant on this stretch.
A French wine bistro a block off Beach Drive with a menu that changes by season, from French onion soup and foie gras torchon to tuna carpaccio and beef tartare. It pours nearly 100 wines chosen by sommeliers and builds charcuterie boards to order.
A St. Pete-born trattoria and the original of a small group that now has rooms in Tampa and Land O' Lakes. Its own site says it was inspired by a 2003 trip through Tuscany and opened in 2005. The same owners run Stillwaters Tavern on the same stretch of Beach Drive.
The ground-floor restaurant of The Birchwood, a hotel in a 1924 Spanish Mission-style building that began as the Lantern Lane Apartments and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Owner Chuck Prather named the hotel for a neighborhood his father developed in Hillsborough County, and a 12-by-24-foot mural of a birch forest covers the south wall. The Canopy rooftop bar is upstairs and a ballroom fills the fourth floor. Prather also runs Teak, Pier Teaki and Driftwood Cafe on the St. Pete Pier.
A Beach Drive brasserie with a separate market next door at 162 Beach Dr NE selling pastries, breads and chocolates. The restaurant describes its cooking as classic dishes with subtle Mediterranean influences, in the style of a European brasserie. It serves brunch, lunch and dinner and books private events and banquets.
A Spanish tapas house modeled on Barcelona, built around shared plates and sangria. The company says it has been at it for nearly thirty years and now runs two rooms, this one on Beach Drive and one on Westshore in Tampa. It does not take reservations.
Opened in August 2024 in the space that was 400 Beach Seafood & Tap House. Shawn and Jeanna Damkoehler bought that restaurant in 2021, ran it under the old name until 2023, then rebuilt it with the design firm AvroKO around Aesop's fable of Juno and the peacock. St. Pete Catalyst reported it as the only Florida restaurant serving Dean & Peeler steaks, dry-aged 45, 65 or 90 days. The Pluma lounge next door keeps more than 1,400 wines, and the patio faces North Straub Park and the yacht basins.
A downtown specialty roaster and cafe that won Best Coffee Shop at the 2026 Visit St. Pete-Clearwater Besties awards. The shop says it roasts on a zero emission roaster and aims to buy from women owned coffee farms. A second counter operates at the SkyBeach Resort near the Skyway.
Open since 1996 and, in its own words, the first major restaurant on this stretch of Beach Drive. Executive chef and partner Tyson Grant runs the kitchen; the site says he was voted Best Chef of Tampa Bay in 2025. It also runs full catering for weddings and corporate events.
The Beach Drive original of a scratch-kitchen tavern from the same owners as BellaBrava a few doors down; a second Stillwaters has since opened in Land O' Lakes. It pours 20 regional beers, wines and cocktails on tap and makes its own sausages in house. Its Cuban sandwich is built on La Segunda Cuban bread with smoked ham, mojo pork and a pickled apple slaw.
The rooftop bar of The Birchwood, a 1924 building first known as the Lantern Lane Apartments and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Two floors were added in the renovation, and the top one looks out over Tampa Bay and the St. Pete Pier, with cabanas and fire pits. Wednesday is $8 martini night.
Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.
